The May Board of Education Meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 21st at 7:30pm in the Hauser LRC. A Question and Answer session will take place from 6:30pm-7:30pm with two school board members and the superintendent. The agenda for the meeting can be found at the following link:

ACES Walk is this Friday, May 24th. Come join the fun!

The ACES walk is this Friday, May 24th. It will be the culmination of this year’s fitness program. At 11:35am, all the Blythe Park students will participate in the ACES mile walk. Please note, a signed permission slip must be returned for your child to participate. After the walk, the students will eat lunch in the amphitheater and a short awards ceremony will be conducted. All parents are welcome to join us in the walk. Come to school at 11:30am and meet us in the parking lot on the south side of the school.

We will be walking the following route this year:
Leave Blythe Park School going west on Blythe Rd. Take Blythe Rd. to Eastgrove. From Eastgrove, follow Delaplaine to Herrick Rd. Turn left on Herrick and walk to Harlem Ave. Cross the street at Harlem Ave. to the other side of Herrick Rd. Walk back down Herrick Rd. to Delaplaine Rd. Take Delaplaine Rd. to Shenstone Rd. Turn right. Walk down Shenstone Rd. to Blythe Rd. Take Blythe Rd. back to Blythe Park.

It is always fun to have cheerleaders and homes with signs along the way. If you live on the route and can post a sign or come out and cheer us on if you are home, that would be great!

Last day to turn in Box Tops for pizza party contest is May 30th

Please turn in all Box Tops by May 30th to count towards the Pizza Party contest.

The class room with the most Box Tops turned in by the May 30th deadline will win the Pizza Party.

Last Hot Lunch for this year is May 31st. Sign-up now!

The last Hot Lunch Fundraiser for the year is Friday, May 31st. The menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, cookie and a drink. The cost per child is $5.00. To register your child(ren), go to www.blytheparkpta.org and click on the hot lunch sign-up button located on the right side bar.

If you signed up for Hot Lunch for the remainder of the year, you are all set! No reservations are needed for the remainder of the year. Thanks for supporting the Hot Lunch Fundraiser!

The reservation deadline is Wednesday, May 29th. Reservations will not be excepted after Wednesday. Please make sure to make your reservation by then.

Field Day is Wednesday, June 5th. Looking for lots of volunteers to help.

The last big PTA event, FIELD DAY, is coming up quickly! We are looking for parent volunteers to help with Field Day on Wednesday, June 5th. Field Day will be held in the morning. To make this event a success, we need lots of volunteers to run the games. If you are interested and available in helping, please sign up on-line by using the link below.

E-mail confirmation along with your job responsibilities will be sent on Monday, June 3rd. Younger siblings are welcome to accompany volunteering parents. Just let us know, when you reply.

Fredrick Law Olmsted Society Landscape Workday to be held at Blythe Park on June 1st

Come help make Blythe Park beautiful along with the Riverside Public Works Department, the Parks & Recreation Department & the Riverside Frederick Law Olmsted Society on Saturday, June 1st from 9:00am-12:00noon.

It is time for the annual school supply sale!

Save yourself time this summer by letting SchoolKidz do the school supply shopping for you! We are again using SchoolKidz and their Teacher Tailored(r) back-to-school supply kit program. In addition to the school supply kits, you can also order backpacks, lunchboxes, and water bottles! See the attached fliers for additional information about the kits and the sale.

Ordering is easy, just go to http://www.shopttkits.com, enter account number 1118, choose the appropriate grade level kit(s) (remember to choose the grade your child will be entering in the fall), add your kit(s) to your cart and checkout. Kits will be delivered in mid-August. Get your orders in by May 31, 2013 (note that orders will not be accepted after this date).

Don’t forget to turn in your receipts for PTA reimbursements

If you have expenses to be reimbursed by the Blythe Park PTA, please remit all receipts to PTA Treasurer Becky Anderson. Anything for the 2012-13 school year turned in after June 7th will not be reimbursed until September. Please drop off receipts in PTA mailbox in the school office or contact Becky at eriknbecky@gmail.com to make arrangements.

This week is MAP testing.

Just a reminder, all Blythe Park students in grades 2 through 8 will take a test called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) this week. Make sure your 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders get lots of sleep and good breakfasts this week! A copy of your child’s individual MAP report will accompany his/her report card on the last day of school.
