LOCAL POLICE ANNOUNCE COMMUNITY EVENT
“Is your child safe on-line?”
Through a collaborative effort, the Riverside & North Riverside Police Departments announce today they will present a school community event for parents, teachers, administrators, residents and children focusing on bullying and cyber-bullying.
This is a joint event with Riverside School District #96, North Riverside School District #94, Illinois Center for Violence Prevention and the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority to face the rising problem of cyber-bullying.
Staff from the ICVP will facilitate the community event on Wednesday, February 4th from 6:30-8:30PM at Hauser Jr. High School Auditorium, 65 Woodside Road, Riverside. They will present current trends, prevention, intervention strategies, online safety hazards and offer tips to children to safely negotiate online social situations.
“This community event will bring to a close the anti-bullying prevention grant program that was initiated last summer through a grant available from the IVPA”, said Chief Tom Weitzel. For more information about this program please contact Sergeant Frank Lara at flara@riverside.il.us.

The Blythe Park PTA extends an invitation to all Blythe Park families to remember someone special in your life and help build our library collection at the same time. How does the program work? You select and purchase a book from the library wish list and create your personalized dedication. Blythe Park PTA will print your dedication in your book and the book will be donated to our school library.

The 1st Grade classroom will be visited by a police officer, the Riverside Village President, a fire fighter, a nurse and the school principal this week. The Job Fair ties into the 1st Grade social studies curriculum about community. If you have a 1st Grader, ask them for their feedback.

This Friday, January 30th is an Early Release Day. All children will be dismissed for pick-up at 11:30am. PM Kindergarten will be in session this Friday.

Blythe Park PTA will be holding its annual Afternoon Bowling event on Friday, January 30th from 12:00pm-2:30pm at Forest Lanes in Lyons. You pay for the game ($3.25) and PTA will pay for the shoe rental and the pizza. What a great deal! All children must be accompanied by a parent or trusted adult. All registration forms are due back to Blythe Park on Monday, January 26th. Please use the attached registration form. Any question, contact Cindy Reynolds Rayfield at 442-1152.

January’s Friday Fitness will be held this Friday, January 16th. Zack Burris will be visiting our school to introduce the students to Tae Kwon Do. The Fitness Food will be baked apples. Here is to our health!
