Welcome Back! The first day of school is Tuesday, August 25th. For grades 1-5, school will be in session from 8:25am - 11:30am. Kindergarten students will follow the schedule below:
8:30 am - 9:00 am Last names beginning with A - D
9:00 am - 9:30 am Last names beginning with E - H
9:30 am - 10:00 am Last names beginning with I - L
10:00 am - 10:30am Last names beginning with M - P
10:30 am - 11:00 am Last names beginning with Q - T
11:00 am - 11:30 am Last names beginning with U - Z
The regular school schedule for kindergarteners will begin on Wednesday, August 26.

Please stop by and visit the Blythe Park PTA membership tables on the first day of school. For those with paid memberships and/or paid district calendars, your membership card and/or your district calendar are ready for pick-up. For those who would like to join PTA and/or purchase a district calendar, both will be available for purchase. As a reminder, a PTA membership is $5.00 and includes a school directory and a district calendar is $5.00. If paying by check, please make check payable to Blythe Park PTA. To kick off the school year, Blythe Park PTA brings David Hall to perform “Marimbamania” on Wednesday, August 26th at 2:00pm in the auditorium. The performance will feature David Hall’s 20 years of experience with marimbas and xylophones. He will be performing musical selections from South America, Mexico, Africa, Japan, Germany and USA. Let us know how your children liked the performance.

Blythe Park PTA will hold a welcome picnic for kindergarteners and their families on Monday, August 24th from 11:30am-12:30pm in the amphitheatre. All Kindergarteners and their families are invited to come enjoy lunch and meet their kindergarten classmates. Blythe Park PTA is the process of creating a digital yearbook of the 2008-2009 school year. Please see the attached Digital Yearbook Request flyer about what pictures we are in search of. We will be taking orders for the digital yearbooks on the first day of school at the PTA table as well as the September PTA meeting. Look for more information at those events. Please see the note below from a Hollywood dad about creating a District 96 Basketball League.
Hello All,
I am writing to find out if there is any interest in a basketball league. Last year I ran an intramural coed basketball program at Hollywood. We had practices and scrimmages during November and December. The kids all had fun and wanted to know why we couldn’t play kids at other schools. I told them I would try to arrange something for next year. So here I am asking if there is any interest. I think it could be great fun to get a league started. I think that Hollywood could probably have a fourth and fifth grade combined boys team and a fourth and fifth combined girls team. I was just trying to get a feeling for how many other schools might want to participate. Please pass this invitation on to anyone who might be willing to coach or help in any other capacity. I always encourage the kids to try their hardest and do their best, but I want the kids to learn and have fun. I don’t see this as a travel league and I would like any child at any skill level to have an equal share in participating. I value competition but not a win at all cost mentality. Feel free to pass my e-mail and phone number to anyone who you think would have interest. Thank you for your consideration.
