District 96 will be holding Kindergarten Information Meetings on Thursday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. The meetings will be held at the school in your designated attendance area : Ames School, Blythe Park School, Central School and Hollywood School. If you are unsure of your school, please call the District 96 office at 708-447-5007.
Your child must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2010 to register for Kindergarten.
This is an information meeting only. Registration will begin on Monday, March 8 at 9:00 a.m. and continue through 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 12.

You’re invited to Blythe Park’s March PTA meeting! The meeting is this Thursday, March 4th at 6:00pm in the music/lunch room. Come find out about PTA’s March and April events. This month’s parent education topic will be Understanding the Writing Curriculum. Meg O’Brien will join us to explain the Reggie Routman Writing curriculum. The meeting will last one hour to ensure all parents who need to attend the Kindergarten Information night can do so. Hope to see you there!

For those students who participated and completed the Six Flag Six Hour Reading Club, your reading program log was due Friday, February 26th. Please turn in all logs by this Friday, March 5th to qualify for one free admission ticket to participating Six Flags Theme Parks. Any questions, contact contact Catherine Lemon or Adriana McCormack.

Competition is “heating” up between Mrs. Sayre’s First grade and Mrs. Depke’s Second grade for “Who Will Win the Box Tops Pizza Party!” Keep clipping and handing in baggies of 25 logos to be entered into the monthly drawings for Scholastic posters. Remember the student with the most Box Tops will win a prize at the end of the year.

Don’t forget the Young Author deadline is approaching fast! Be sure your child’s masterpiece fulfills all Young Author requirements and is turned in accompanied by a signed permission slip. Guidelines and permission slips can be found on the Blythe Park ebackpack. 3rd grade books are due Friday, March 5th and all other grades are due Wednesday, March 17th. Happy writing!

It is time for all the Blythe Park runners to take part in the Race That is Good For Life. The race will take place in Oak Park on Sunday, April 11th. This is a great whole family race. The race has a youth mile run as well as a junior jog. For those interested in participating, register on line at http://race.oprc.net/

The Blythe Park PTA extends an invitation to all Blythe Park families to remember someone special in your life and help build our library collection at the same time. How does the program work? You select and purchase a book from the library wish list and create your personalized dedication. Blythe Park PTA will print your dedication in your book and the book will be donated to our school library. Book orders are due on Tuesday, March23rd. Please see the attached flyer and book list.
